The fourth Eastern Partnership summit will be held in Riga, Latvia on 21-22 May 2015. It will bring together the leaders of the European Union and the Member States with those of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The summit will be chaired by President Tusk and hosted by the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the EU.

Ahead of the Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga on 21-22 May, which will be an important milestone in the cooperation with the Eastern Partnership countries, the Commission is issuing two progress reports on the implementation by Georgia and Ukraine of their respective Visa Liberalisation Action Plans (VLAP). This is a sign of the Commission's commitment and of the pace of the measures being taken by the two countries.

Since the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, the financial situation of Ukraine remains weak. Debates about economic, financial, military and political assistance are the major topic for discussion among Ukraine and foreign partners. But if military assistance is almost denied, financial help is being granted on a permanent basis. During last year and the beginning of 2015, Ukraine has received vast sums of money from the EU, the USA, Japan and Canada. But to assure economic development it is, obviously, not enough. The problem remains: there are almost no investments, which have been declining over past two years.

Odesa, 30 April 2015 - EUBAMs Advisory Board Meeting met April 30 and discussed future strategies. The meeting was attended by representatives from the Foreign Ministries, border and law enforcement agencies of Moldova and Ukraine, the EU Delegations to Moldova and Ukraine, as well as IOM, OSCE and UNDP.

The European Commission, on behalf of the EU, today disbursed a loan of 250 million to Ukraine. This is the last disbursement under the first Macro-Financial Assistance (MFA) operation for Ukraine, which amounts to a total of 610 million.

These experts will take an active part in our on-going reflection on the cultural dimension of the ENP and our contribution to the public consultation.

EU plans to lend Ukraine 1.8 billion to help plug its short-term balance of payments gap were approved by MEPs on Wednesday. The EU will borrow the money externally and lend it on to Ukraine with the same interest rate. The disbursement will be tied to Ukraine pledging structural reforms to tackle problems that contributed to the current crisis.
