EU-Ukraine: myths and realities in focus at Zhytomyr seminar

The EU Delegation's information campaign in Ukraine is coming to Zhytomyr with a seminar on EU-Ukraine relations, highlighting the myths and realities in the current state of relations. The event will be held at the premises of the ‘Modern Format’ NGO on 14 February at 11am.

Specifically, the seminar will address the following questions:
  • EU-Ukraine relations in the context of the current social and political situation in Ukraine;
  • Finding a political solution to the current crisis and the role of the EU in this process;
  • Analysis and refuting of the Association Agreement myths;
  • Economic and trade aspects of EU-Ukraine relations. Economic advantages and challenges from signing the Association Agreement with the EU and their significance for the understanding of the current situation;
  • Analysis of decision-making in the EU: who and how can make decisions that will affect the current situation;
  • Advice on how to work with EU-related information.
Among the participants of the seminar will be:
  • Experts from the EU Delegation to Ukraine;
  • Taras Kachka, independent expert on EU law,  member of the Ukrainian team of negotiators on the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement and DCFTA, and former First Deputy Director of the State Department for Approximation of Legislation at the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine;
  • Volodymyr Yermolenko, director of EU-related media projects at Internews-Ukraine and senior professor at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.

The information campaign Building Europe in Ukraine includes a number of information events, which over the course of one year aim to explain the importance of the signature of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement and to raise peoples’ awareness of EU-Ukraine relations.
